NBA podcaster Bill Simmons expects Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum to return on March 1 against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Despite multiple optimistic reports about Jayson Tatum's progression from his Achilles injury, there is still uncertainty about his status for the rest of the season.
Boston Celtics / Schedule
Although the latest developments have led many to believe the Boston Celtics star is on track to return for this season's playoff run, some speculation continues — including from prominent NBA podcaster Bill Simmons, who floated a conspiracy theory about Tatum's potential return by connecting the dots to a specific date.
"I don't know if you saw this over the weekend. Celtics and Sixers on Sunday night March 1st. Moved from six to eight PM. That got a hmm," he said on the Bill Simmons Podcast, via ClutchPoints.
"I had been hearing first week of March for a while. That it was going to be somewhere around that March 4th, March 6th game. Conspiracy Bill has also noted that if you go on any ticket resale site for the Dallas March 6th game, the prices are way out of whack. And it can't just be that Cooper Flagg is coming to town."
"So it's really starting to look like March 1st or March 6th, but my money would be on March 1st now for him."

According to the latest updates, Tatum participated in full five-on-five practice on Monday, working alongside rostered teammates, two-way players, and G League players. It marked the first time he competed in live action against teammates since his injury.
Before the injury, Tatum was coming off a strong 2024-25 season, averaging 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game while shooting 45.2 percent from the field and 34.3 percent from three-point range. He remained the centerpiece of Boston's offense and one of the league's top two-way wings.
Despite missing their franchise player, the Celtics have remained competitive. Boston holds a 35-19 record and sits second in the Eastern Conference, maintaining a strong position ahead of the playoff push.
