Giants legend reacts to Bill Belichick’s Hall of Fame snub

Count Eli Manning among those surprised by Bill Belichick’s Hall of Fame snub.

The former Giants quarterback, who beat Belichick’s Patriots in Super Bowls XLII and XLVI, reacted to the news in an interview with [Clutch Points](https://clutchpoints.com/nfl/nfl-stories/exclusive-what-eli-manning-said-bill-belichick-hall-of-fame-snub) last week.

“Bill Belichick not making the Hall of Fame is pretty shocking,” Manning said. “You have one of – if not maybe the greatest coach of all time — and what he built there in New England, and the amount of Super Bowls they went to, and AFC championships, let alone just the amount that they won, it was incredible. I can’t imagine a more deserving coach to make it in the Hall of Fame than him.”

Belichick, an eight-time Super Bowl winner, did not receive the required 40 of 50 votes to be inducted in the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.

Belichick, who has a career 333-178 record, was considered by many to be a first-ballot guarantee.

Former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady [also commented](https://sports.mynorthwest.com/brock-and-salk/tom-brady-on-bill-belichicks-hof-snub-i-dont-understand-it/1837337) on the snub earlier this month.

“I don’t understand it,” he said. “I mean, I was with him every day. If he’s not a first-ballot Hall of Famer, there’s really no coach that should ever be a first-ballot Hall of Famer, which is completely ridiculous because people deserve it.

“He’s incredible. There’s no coach I’d rather play for. If I’m picking one coach to go out there to win a Super Bowl, give me one season, I’m taking Bill Belichick. So that’s enough said.”
