Young Liverpool trio called up for England – as Thiago Silva’s son debuts

Liverpool youngster Luca Eden featured alongside Thiago Silva’s son on a trip to Cyprus for England, while Josh Abe and Vincent Joseph have also been called up.

It has been quite a couple of months for Eden, who became Liverpool’s youngest-ever under-18 player in December and scored his first goal on just his second appearance.

He has since turned 15, but at 14 years, eight months and 20 days, the young midfielder surpassed the feat of Josh Davidson – now a regular for the U21s – as Liverpool’s youngest under-18s player.

He has now played three times for Simon Wiles’ side, starting his most recent outing against Derby after scoring a late penalty, which he demanded to take against Burnley the week before.

He hasn’t played for Liverpool since January 30, though, thanks to a call-up to England U15s, whom he captained during the October international break.

England travelled to Cyprus to face their hosts, beating them 3-0, before a friendly against the USA followed.

Eden didn’t start that match, but he did come off the bench at the same time as former Chelsea defender Silva’s son, Iago Silva, to help his team to a 4-3 victory.

When he returns to Merseyside, he should slot back into Wiles’ under-18s and continue his progress, though Liverpool will proceed with caution given his age and the fact that he is playing with peers who are physically more developed.

Josh Abe and Vincent Joseph called up to England U16s

As Eden returns, 16-year-olds Abe and attacker Joseph, who has previously represented Germany at youth level, should head out with England U16s. However, the latter has missed football through injury of late so his involvement could be in doubt, reported Lewis Bower.

Abe will be travelling, though, as England face Denmark, France and Spain next week.

Abe made his debut for the under-16s back in August, scoring a fantastic goal against Italy from outside the box that curled into the top corner.

The youngster’s incline has become increasingly steep since, going on to train with Liverpool’s first team in parts of sessions as well as becoming an important part of Liverpool U18s.

On Saturday, he demonstrated his abilities, netting a hat-trick from the right in a 6-1 win over Leeds in Kirkby.

Liverpool could face a fight to keep him on their books, though, with Chelsea and Man City among those interested, while Abe has also visited the Bernabeu and is represented by Tyler Alexander-Arnold.
