Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has been linked with a move to Real Madrid over recent days and Brazilian winger Vinicius Jr has now spoken out on the pair’s relationship

Vinicius Jr admits he regularly speaks with Dominik Szoboszlai with the Liverpool star linked with a move to Real Madrid. The Hungarian has been a star performer for the Reds this season, having scored ten goals.
But Szoboszlai’s future at Anfield is already up in the air. He has just two-and-a-half years left on his contract, while Real Madrid are thought to be admirers.
Real star Vinicius has now spoken out and revealed that he is regularly in contact with the midfielder, albeit stopped short of confirming whether he is attempting to convince him to move to Spain.
Speaking in an interview with Youtuber Ibai, he said: "I talk a lot with Szoboszlai. We met when we were younger. [Lucas] Paqueta is my best friend in football.
“Raphinha in Barcelona, Savinho, and Reinier in Brazil, who’s played here too. We Brazilians are almost always together off the field, but from other teams who aren’t Brazilian, Reece James - I’m very good friends with him. Rafael Leao, I have quite a few friends outside."
Meanwhile, Vinicius has confirmed that Szoboszlai has also spoken to him about potentially getting a pair of his signature Nike boots. He added: "A lot of players have messaged me to play in them! Paqueta at Flamengo, and Szoboszlai of Liverpool has also asked me."
Vinicius’ comments about his relationship come at an intriguing time. Hungary national team boss Marco Rossi recently admitted that the midfielder is eyeing a move to the Bernabeu at some point in the future.
He said: “Due to the very close and direct relationship I have had with Dominik Szoboszlai since he started playing football as a child, Real Madrid has always been his dream. Since he started playing football, Dominik has had only one dream: to play for Real Madrid.

“I don’t know if he will be able to take that step, because the decision depends on him and also on his club. The idea that is always on your mind is to fulfil your dream and make it a reality, and, from my point of view, that is the only and most important thought that can dominate Dominik’s mind.
“However, I do not rule out the possibility of him staying at Liverpool and renewing his contract there, especially as he is highly valued within the club. He is a very important player for Liverpool, and Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world.”
Szoboszlai joined Liverpool from German side RB Leipzig back in 2023 and he has gone on to make 129 appearances for the club, scoring 25 goals.
