Mamadou Sarr made a new record in his debut game for Chelsea against Hull. Sarr has impressed his coach Liam Rosenior and showed a very confident display at the back. Sarr proved that he is ready for the big challenges coming up next at the Stamford Bridge. It would be interesting to see how Liam Rosenior develops the player.
Chelsea came away from a rainy MKM stadium with a place booked in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup after a 4-0 win over Hull City. Mamadou Sarr only came from Strasbourg a matter of weeks ago. But he’s already showing exactly why Chelsea recalled him from his loan. He played the full 90 minutes against Hull City alongside Wesley Fofana at centre-back. The pair looked like they were in complete control. And Sarr even set a new Chelsea record this season.
Sarr finished the match with a 98% passing accuracy (completing 101 of 103 passes). This is the highest completion rate by any Chelsea center-back in a single match this season (minimum 60 passes). According to reports, Sarr made 101 of 103 passes, had 118 touches of the ball, created one chance, made one tackle, two blocks, six recoveries, four clearances and three headed clearances, as well as winning four out of seven duels.
I don’t want to hear a SINGLE negative word about Mamadou Sarr.•
The boy is 20 years old playing like a 50-cap veteran•
Cool calm and progressive on the ball. If Estevao and Delap had his composure in front of goal we’d be 4-0 up and at home already•

Sarr and Chelsea vs Hull
Back at a snowy MKM Stadium, Blues boss Liam Rosenior, a former Hull player and manager had to wait until the 40th minute for his side to make the most of their dominance with the opening goal. A lovely interchange of passes ended with Neto whipping a left-footed strike from just outside the box into the corner. The Portugal international then doubled Chelsea’s lead five minutes after the break in bizarre circumstances. Neto’s swerving in-swinging corner evaded everyone and nestled into the net after bouncing through Hull keeper Dillon Phillips’ legs.
Brazilian teenager Estevao made up for an earlier poor miss by slotting home in the 59th minute following clever hold-up play from Liam Delap. Who spent a season on loan with the Tigers when Rosenior was in charge.
Neto sealed his first senior career hat-trick 19 minutes from time with a neat finish into the bottom corner. As striker Delap recorded his third assist with a barging run and inviting pass to the winger.
Mamadou Sarr has returned to Chelsea from his loan spell at Strasbourg.
Welcome back, Mamadou! 💙

FA Cup triumph for the Blues
Since last etching their name on a domestic trophy in 2018, Chelsea have won every European trophy on offer, as well as the Fifa Club World Cup last summer. That last piece of domestic silverware was the FA Cup, which they won eight years ago under the guidance of Italian Antonio Conte.
After falling at the semi-final stage of the Carabao Cup this season to Arsenal, the FA Cup could present an opportunity for Rosenior to land a first prize as Chelsea boss.
With the talent at his disposal and strength in depth the Blues made seven changes from the side that drew with Leeds on Tuesday in the Premier League against Leeds – they will be among the favourites. Cole Palmer was left at home, while Enzo Fernandez and Joao Pedro were among the substitutes. Yet the Blues could still have been 3-0 up inside the opening 20 minutes with Estevao and Caicedo shining. Once Neto struck a sumptuous opener, Hull, who had won just one of their 35 previous games against Chelsea in all competitions came under constant pressure.
Author’s insight
From the author’s point of view, with this victory Chelsea are one step closer to their FA Cup goal. Sarr’s impressive display in his Chelsea debut might gave him a upper hand in their next game.
