Liverpool signed Jeremie Frimpong in the summer in part to help replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who joined the Spanish giant Real Madrid as his contract ticked down at Anfield

Liverpool right-backs have not had much luck this season. And with Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley both sidelined at the moment, others have been stepping in.
Last weekend, Curtis Jones was a strong performer in the role against Brighton, playing because Wataru Endo picked up a serious injury when he was deployed there against Sunderland. Dominik Szoboszlai has filled in at full-back too, but was selected in midfield on this latest occasion.
When everyone is fit, though, Liverpool has two very good options at right-back in Frimpong and Bradley. And after losing Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid, it was an important position to get right.

"I like Jeremie Frimpong because he's a beacon of energy, but you can't compare him with Trent because Trent was like David Beckham playing at right-back," Rene Meulensteen told BetGoat this week.
"His exquisite quality is his range of passing and Frimpong is more of a dynamic player who can play as a wing-back. He can go forward, he can defend, he can go forward, he can beat a man, he can get around him, can put a cross in.
"He's much more agile and quick than Trent, but completely different in what he gives the team. That's why it's just the same position, but you're just putting a player there with completely different qualities.

"But he is a very top, top professional, a hard-working kid. He'll never let you down. He will always give us 100 per cent. When Liverpool brought him in, I thought it was a good signing because of the versatility that he brings."
Bradley may not play again this season, while Frimpong, who was signed for $41 million (£29 million), is out at the moment but with no exact timeline placed on his return.
"Curtis is a very good player — I've said this many times also to him and he agrees with me, by the way!" Arne Slot said after his number 17's performance at right-back against Brighton.
"But unfortunately for him, he's playing in a line where I have many good players and also [they are] available. So if he would be playing in another position, he would have played much, much more.

"But that's the only line — touch wood — where we haven't had our problems this season, and then you sometimes need him or other players in different positions and so many times they've done well.
"Dominik has played so many different positions, Ryan [Gravenberch] played centre-back and now tonight Curtis had to play as a full-back and he did really well.
"It was very pleasing to see that the first goal was an assist from the left full-back to the right full-back — that probably tells you a lot about the intentions these players have when they step on the pitch."
