Pau Cubarsi reveals why his Barcelona team-mates nicknamed him ‘the McDonald’s waiter’

Pau Cubarsi has been talking about life at Barcelona and how he was dubbed the ‘McDonald’s waiter’ by his team-mates earlier in his career.

There was little sympathy from his team-mates, however, who couldn’t resist poking fun at the youngster instead.

”Another memorable moment was against Red Star Belgrade. During a tackle, I lowered my head, the opposing player raised his foot and caught it in my face. I saw it was starting to bleed, my teammates got worried and called the doctor,” he told L’Equipe.

“At halftime, he told me I needed stitches. First, I asked him to let me take a selfie to send to my mother and tell her I was okay, but also to have a souvenir.

“To be able to play against Real Sociedad a few days later, I had to wear a protective helmet that made me look like a McDonald’s employee. My teammates called me the McDonald’s waiter!”
