The buildup to the Super Bowl was dominated by discourse surrounding Bad Bunny. Many were triggered by the Puerto Rican star’s status as the halftime show headliner, leading Turning Point USA to craft its own “All-American” show starring Kid Rock.
Many spectators complained to the FCC about the supposedly profane nature of the lyrics, despite already expressing frustration that the words were in Spanish and therefore not understandable.
Regardless, an initial FCC review concluded that Bad Bunny and the halftime show didn’t violate applicable decency regulations.
According to the New York Post, the lyrics were “scrubbed” to remove references to sexual acts and genitalia. The original lyrics may have provided a problem, but the changes mean the matter is closed “barring further evidence.”
