Liverpool have had some truly legendary figures represent them since their formation all the way back in 1892.
The Reds have become the most decorated club in English football across that 134-year period, with hundreds of incredibly talented players leading them to legions of trophies.
Now, for the third time in the past 20 years, Liverpool are asking supporters to vote for the best 100 players to ever turn out for the Reds.

As announced on Liverpoolfc.com on Monday, a ‘huge poll’ will run until April 30th, where supporters can pick from a longlist of 250 players chosen from a ‘statistical model based on key metrics for every player in club history.’ The results will then be revealed over the summer break.
While it will be fascinating to see which of the storied players from Liverpool’s history will make the top 100, we at Rousing The Kop think we already know what the top five will be.
5. John Barnes
There will be plenty of competition to get into the top five here, with the likes of Graeme Souness and even Virgil van Dijk perhaps unlucky to miss out.
But as a real hero to those who grew up watching Liverpool in the late 1980s, John Barnes will surely take a big portion of the vote.

One of the most skilful players to ever wear the Red shirt, Barnes does not have the trophy-haul of some of his challengers, but his reputation as a silky terroriser of defences will likely see him make the cut, and deservedly so.
4. Ian Rush
It is virtually impossible to make a realistic argument about the five best players in Liverpool’s history without including far and away their top scorers of all-time. Ian Rush holds that distinction and will likely never be beaten.
As a result, he will surely head straight into the top five in this summer’s poll, but it would perhaps be a surprise if he breaks the top three.
Although Rush is rightly remembered as one of Liverpool’s truly great players, his placing in these all-time lists usually has a ceiling.

3. Mohamed Salah
There will be plenty of Liverpool supporters voting here who never even watched any of the other four players on this list in action. But they will have certainly seen Mohamed Salah.
For his goal-scoring exploits as well as the trophies he has won with the Reds, Salah absolutely deserves to be in the top three.
He may place higher thanks to the popular and ‘current’ vote, but we still think logic will prevail as he falls in behind the eternal top two.
2. Kenny Dalglish
Kenny Dalglish won the 2006 vote of ‘100 Players Who Shook the Kop’ but was beaten to second place in the new edition seven years later.
The second poll was held while Steven Gerrard was still a Liverpool player, and the Scouser did nothing in the final two years of his Reds career that will suggest he will relinquish top spot.
As a result, Dalglish will likely come in a more than respectable second place. He will always be The King to some, but he will surely miss out on top spot again.

1. Steven Gerrard
The order of the top two here may mostly depend on the age of whichever Liverpool supporter is voting.
For the younger generation, there should only be one winner: Steven Gerrard. The quintessential Liverpool captain, Gerrard could do just about everything. Trophy-haul, quality and longevity with the club, he had it all.
Maybe there will be some surprise entries and Gerrard will be knocked off the top spot, but if he is – and it is anyone other than Dalglish – this whole poll will instantly become null and void.
