The Winter Olympics have been filled with thrilling victories on the field of play and some interesting headlines outside the lines. Even those in attendance to support their friends and family have made headlines.
Jonathan Owens, the husband of iconic US Gymnast Simone Biles, recently shared a surprising story from his visit to Milan. He was on site to support Team USA alongside his wife, Biles.

Owens was prepared for anything at the Winter Olympics. He was even prepared for predators trying to pick pocket visitors, athletes, and tourists.

He posted his account of a pick-pocket attempt on X (formerly Twitter).

Not somebody just tried to snatch my shopping bag in Milan, force of habit i had it tied around my hand so he couldn’t get it and took off running immediately….but still crazy

Unfortunately, where there are big events such as the Winter Olympics, there will be those who look to expose those in unfamiliar territory. Owens isn’t someone whom one should try to rob, however.
Owens is a safety for the Chicago Bears who entered the NFL in 2018. He has played eight seasons and is entering his ninth as a former undrafted free agent.

He is a professional athlete who, at a minimum, is pretty strong and quick. The pick-pocketer was wise to retreat when he could. I’m not sure I’d want to get into a foot race with someone who runs down ball carriers for a living.

Owens and Biles have been married since 2023. He is notably at many of her events and Olympic events when she is attending–when he isn’t playing pro football.
Biles, of course, is one of the most decorated Olympic gymnasts in history. The couple was on location to support their Team USA colleagues as spectators–most notably at the men’s figure skating competition.
