Steph Curry was present in Los Angeles, California, for the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend activities. The Golden State Warriors guard was not a participant in anything, as he's nursing a knee injury.
For the third time in NBA history, Curry and the rest of the basketball world watched Damian Lillard win the league's 3-Point Contest. Shooting amid his recovery from a torn Achilles, Lillard proved he is still one of the best shooters in the game.
Curry wants to challenge him next season, and he handpicked two other competitors too. The Warriors guard ran it by Lillard via text, and the Blazers' 3-Point champ posted the quick exchange for all to see.
What Did Curry Say to Lillard?
"Next year…. Me, you, klay, book, and 4 more real shooters," Curry told Lillard.
"Yessir I’m in. Know Klay will do it if I ask and book will be at home. Perfect setup," Lillard fired back.
Devin Booker is already committed to next year's 3-Point Competition, as it takes place in Phoenix, Arizona, the veteran guard's NBA home.
Klay Thompson hasn't participated in the competition since 2018, when he was a member of the Warriors. Being that he's still in the league with the Dallas Mavericks, he's a former winner, and he's still shooting near 40 percent from deep, Thompson is a logical fit for the competition.
Beyond that, Lillard, Curry, and Thompson could look at a few former winners who are still active. Tyler Herro, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Buddy Hield have been crowned champs since 2020.
The Charlotte Hornets rookie Kon Knueppel will certainly get a look, as he was impressive in his first bout with the competition. He scored 27 points in round one, tying with Lillard. He was defeated by Booker and Lillard in the final round, dropping just 17 points.
