Dolphins release 2 veterans after Tyreek Hill, Bradley Chubb cuts amid roster overhaul

The Miami Dolphins are entering a huge offseason. There are plenty of changes coming for the Dolphins, and a few have already been made. New general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan is busy.

Bradley Chubb was cut on Monday morning, and a few hours later, it was reported that two-time Dolphins All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill was also cut by the Dolphins.

But the Dolphins aren't done cutting players. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Dolphins are cutting two more players this offseason in WR Nick Westbrooke-Ikhine and offensive lineman James Daniels.

Dolphins cut 2 veterans in WR and OL after Hill and Chubb releases

"The Dolphins have released veteran guard James Daniels, per source," Pelissero reported. "The Dolphins have also released WR Nick Westbrooke-Ikhine, per sources."

These two releases are a part of the four cuts the Dolphins have made on Monday. Chubb and Hill are the two big cuts, but Westbrooke-Ikhine and Daniels are still noteworthy releases.

Westbrooke-Ikhine has the smallest contract of these four released players, coming in last offseason on a two-year, $5.99 million deal. His release will incur a $1.6 million dead cap charge and a $1.55 million in cap savings. Only $50,000 will hurt the Dolphins from this cut.

Daniels is a bit of a bigger deal. His three-year, $24 million contract is a bigger one to move on from, as his dead cap hit by being released now will be $4.8 million, with just $1.18 million in savings.

While the Dolphins are taking on some dead cap this offseason by cutting all four of these players, Sullivan is planning for the future and is willing to take on some big cap hits this season to facilitate a better future in Miami.

He's fixing the mistakes made by Chris Grier, and these four cuts are the first of many changes coming for the Dolphins this offseason.
