The Seahawks may need some insurance at running back.

The Seattle Seahawks will need to answer some pressing questions at running back in order to have a chance to repeat as Super Bowl champions. All eyes are on Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker who is headed to NFL free agency.

A robust market is expected for Walker, meaning Seattle may need to have a backup plan at the position. To make matters more challenging, Zach Charbonnet is recovering from a season-ending ACL injury, leaving the team with little insurance behind Walker.

Both Seattle and Walker have expressed a desire to get a new deal done, but the Seahawks will have competition in NFL free agency. Even if the Seahawks re-sign Walker, the team could look to add a running back in the NFL draft.

Pro Football Focus’ Gordon McGuinness projects that the Seahawks will select a familiar face for fans in the Pacific Northwest. The latest PFF mock draft has Seattle selecting Washington standout running back Jonah Coleman in the second round with the No. 64 overall pick.

Let’s explore Coleman’s fit with the Seahawks.

NFL Draft 2026: Potential Seahawks Target RB Jonah Coleman Has Posted 27 TDs in the Last 2 Seasons

Coleman is coming off a career-high 15 rushing touchdowns while adding two receiving TDs in 2025. The Huskies running back posted 156 carries for 758 rushing yards in addition to 31 receptions for 354 yards. Coleman has been a model of consistent production, notching 193 rushes for 1,053 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2024.

It will be worth watching how Coleman performs at the NFL Combine. The running back is not the most explosive athlete, which could allow the Seahawks to snag Coleman later in the draft. Here’s how Draft Network outlines Coleman’s scouting report ahead of the NFL draft.

“Jonah Coleman is a strong, sturdy back who relies on vision, running with power, and contact balance to be a productive back in the NFL,” Draft Network detailed. “Coleman has high-end vision. He’s able to find open holes but can also set up defenders and create openings on the second level.

“Coleman has a dense lower half that allows him to absorb contact by defenders and remain balanced to pick up yards. Coleman does a good job of breaking down and making lateral cuts to evade defenders.”

## Seahawks RB Ken Walker Has an Expensive Market Value of a $36 Million Ahead of NFL Free Agency

Walker is headed for a sizable raise from his four-year, $8.4 million rookie contract. Spotrac projects that Walker’s market value is a four-year, $36 million deal.

Ahead of the Super Bowl, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald emphasized why Seattle wants to re-sign Walker. Yet, the price for Walker has likely gone up since these comments.

“Of course, we want Ken back,” Macdonald explained to reporters on February 6, per NFL.com’s Kevin Patra. “He’s a phenomenal player. He’s a great person. He’s a great teammate. Those are the people we want in our building. Those are the people we want with the Seahawks.

“I’m sure Ken feels the same way. Again, those are things that we’re going to have to worry about, not right now. Those are decisions we’ll make in the future. But Ken knows how we feel about him. And I think we know how Ken feels about us.”
