Jaylen Brown teases post-NBA career plans during All Star Weekend

Jaylen Brown has been one of the best players in the NBA during the 2025-26 season.

The Boston Celtics were expected to take a step back this year after Jayson Tatum's injury at the end of last season, but Brown hasn't allowed that to happen. As the team's top option, Brown is averaging 29.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game.

Brown was selected to his fifth NBA All Star Game this season and played in the event over the weekend. During an interview, Brown offered a peak into his post-basketball career plans.

While speaking with the media, Brown expressed a desire to get into professional fighting.

“To be honest, I’ve toyed with this, and I’ve talked to some people,” Brown said. “Maybe in the post-career part of my life, I would love to partake in something like the UFC or even boxing. I’ve talked to (UFC president) Dana White about some stuff. We’ll see how things go.”

It would be unwise to doubt Brown's ability to succeed at anything at this point. It's also not the first time Brown has expressed a desire to do something more than basketball.

Coming into the league, some scouts believed Brown was "too smart" to play in the NBA. Brown is an avid chess player, was offered an internship at NASA, and is the youngest person to ever hold a lecture at Harvard.

However, Celtics fans likely don't want to think about any of that right now. Brown is having his best season as a pro this year and has the Celtics at the top of the Eastern Conference even without Tatum.

So far in his NBA career, Brown has one championship, one Eastern Conference MVP, one NBA Finals MVP, and five All-Star selections. It will be interesting to see how far Brown can take the Celtics this year, or if Tatum will return for the playoffs.

While fighting is apparently something Brown is very interested in, it would be interesting to see him get into coaching as well. However, Brown is a man of many interests, and nothing he decides to do after his playing career would be surprising.
