The New York Jets have been linked to a lot of quarterback options this offseason already. Justin Fields didn't work out at $40 million over two years in 2025, and the Jets need a new quarterback.
While they could go out and draft one, there isn't a good option in the draft worth a first-round pick. Instead, the Jets have been linked to free agent and trade targets, with Arizona Cardinals starter Kyler Murray being one of the more frequent options.
Bill Barnwell of ESPN proposed a trade that would land the Jets Murray this offseason, and while trading for a starting QB might not be easy, this package for the Jets would be very affordable and reasonable.
Jets receive cheap trade proposal from ESPN for Kyler Murray
"Jets get: QB Kyler Murray, 2026 sixth-round pick. Cardinals get: 2026 fourth-round pick," Barnwell proposed.
This trade would give the Jets a new starter in Murray, who, while maybe not the best quarterback in the NFL, would be a worthwhile flier for a Jets team in dire need of help at the position.
He's an experienced player who's had success before in his career. A foot injury cut his 2025 season short, but the two-time Pro Bowler is a solid starter who could rediscover his early-career self in New York.
The concern about acquiring someone like Murray would be the Jets spending way too much to get him. He's in the middle of a $230 million contract, with the 2026 and 2027 seasons nearly impossible to get out of at a combined $78 million.

But the Jets have plenty of cap space, and with Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey on the hot seat, taking a chance on Murray to be a decent starter in 2026 isn't a bad idea.
And especially if they only have to do a Day 3 pick swap. Moving from the fourth-round to the sixth-round with the Cardinals is not a huge loss for the Jets at all to take on Murray.
Murray is a decent option for the Jets in 2026, and especially at the price tag that Barnwell proposes in this hypothetical trade. Murray for a Day-3 pick swap would be a great flier for the Jets to take.
His career passer rating is a solid 92.2, and combined with averaging 624 rushing yards per 17 games, Murray is a solid dual-threat option that's well worth taking a chance on this upcoming season.
