Liverpool learn their FA Cup fifth round opponent, we're on a six-game win streak against them

After making short work of Brighton, Liverpool have found out their next opponent in the FA Cup.

This competition could be all that keeps Arne Slot out of the danger zone this season, should Liverpool’s Champions League campaign go up in smoke.

The FA Cup offers one of two chances at silverware for the Reds this season.

Is winning the FA Cup enough to keep Arne Slot in a job beyond 2025/26? If not, why? 🤔

Liverpool eased past Brighton to get here, and will be fully intent on continuing all the way to the final. That journey now goes through the Midlands.

Liverpool draw Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 5th round of the FA Cup

Liverpool will face bottom-of-the-table Wolves in a few weeks to try and book a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

We will play Rob Edwards side twice in a week as a result, with that Premier League clash set for March 3rd.

Slot’s men will be heavy favourites, but this is the kind of banana skin you have to be careful of in cup competition.

The picture for Liverpool between now and the fifth round

Frankly, Liverpool should go into this FA Cup tie on a five-game win streak.

That doesn’t mean they will. We are all too familiar with the inconsistency issues this team have displayed this season.

But the three league fixtures between now and the fifth round — due to take place around the weekend of March 7th — are ones Liverpool should win.

Sure, West Ham are on a good run of form, but these are three of the four worst teams in the Premier League. Obviously, beating Wolves is especially important given that they are our cup opponents.

That would put the Reds right back in the mix for Champions League qualification, and would likely give them a real swagger in their step heading into the Wolves clash.
