“Cleaning House” Dolphins Release Eight-Time Pro Bowler – Potential Landing Spots Emerge

The Miami Dolphins are starting to clean house this offseason and will release star wide receiver Tyreek Hill, including several other players who are moving on. It’s no surprise that the Dolphins are releasing Hill, given that the team is in rebuild mode coming off a disastrous 2025 campaign led by quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. With new head coach Jeff Hafley stepping in, it makes perfect sense that the Dolphins aren’t retaining Hill, especially after coming off a gruesome season-ending injury he suffered the previous regular season. Originally selected in the fifth-round of the 2016 NFL Draft, the former West Alabama product should have plenty of free agent interest now that he’s available.

“Cleaning House” Dolphins Release Eight-Time Pro Bowler Tyreek Hill

The All-Pro isn’t going to fetch a long-term deal at this stage in his career. Before, the injured star teased his retirement, and it won’t be long before he announces he’s stepping away from football. However, the receiver still has a solid three to four years left in the tank, so the best he will probably do is earn a one-year “prove it” contract with several teams.

The best days are behind him, so it’ll be interesting to see where he goes. Hill is not wasting anytime as of this posting, and updated his Instagram bio. With the Dolphins clearing over $60 million in cap space, the receiver should receive calls from these teams.

Potential Landing Spots

Kansas City Chiefs

The most obvious destination for Hill is to return to where he started his career. After developing one of the finest chemistries with quarterback Patrick Mahomes, it shouldn’t be surprising if the Chiefs decide to call up Hill. With Rashee Rice facing new legal trouble and possibly looking at another suspension, the team signing Hill to a low-stakes one-year contract makes sense. Hill isn’t going to be the same Chief he once was, but his presence would be enough to help other emerging talents in this wide receiver unit, including Xavier Worthy and Jalen Royals, to succeed once Hill retires.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys should take a serious look at Hill due to Super Bowl reasons. Quarterback Dak Prescott is coming off his best season last year, but it wasn’t enough to bring them to a championship or even a postseason appearance. While they can blame their defense, there is always room for improvement offensively. Dallas can do better than relying on KaVontae Turpin and Jonathan Mingo to step in for a bigger role at WR3.

Even if the Cowboys retain George Pickens to a long-term contract, the team should encourage Hill to join them to create a superstar dream team between him, Pckens and CeeDee Lamb.

Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore is another team that could build a superstar roster once again. After signing DeAndre Hopkins to a one-year contract last offseason, it’s safe to say he’s headed elsewhere after the Ravens failed to use him in the winning-moments. It might be because he doesn’t fit in the mold that Baltimore has. The Ravens have a fast-paced and play-action offense that puts Lamar Jackson in a situation to throw it for a quick slant.

This suits a speedster like Hill. He isn’t going to get full-time reps, but Hill could turn into a useful chain mover in situational moments.

Los Angeles Chargers

If Hill doesn’t join the Chiefs, he could reunite with new Chargers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. Hill reacted when McDaniel joined the Chargers, so don’t be surprised if Los Angeles targets the receiver, even if the team brings back Keenan Allen. Quarterback Justin Herbert is still a top-tier quarterback in this league, but the Chargers need to better position him with their star receivers.

Quentin Johnston hasn’t been the most solid, so Hill stepping in to rejuvenate this offense makes sense.
