Nottingham Forest central defender Murillo has been linked with Chelsea, and quotes from Joe Cole make his feelings clear.
Chelsea are once again being connected with interest in Nottingham Forest’s Brazilian central defender Murillo, and one person who would definitely be in favour of that is Joe Cole.
We’ve seen some old quotes from the former Chelsea winger where he praises the Forest defender and notes that the Blues have had a few Brazilian defenders over the years – including Thiago Silva.
Chelsea favourite connects Murillo with “lineage” of Blues Brazilian defenders

“[Murillo is] brilliantly Brazilian. There’s been a lineage of Brazilian centre-halves like Thiago Silva,” Cole said on TNT Sport after a Forest win last season.
“Again, what a find, what a player he’s [Murillo] been. You can see, from talking to Forest fans, they absolutely love him.”
We can see what Cole is saying, and signing him back then was perhaps more of a possibility but as we wrote earlier, this deal doesn’t feel likely unless one rather major thing happens: Forest get relegated.
That would likely mean Murillo pushes for an exit, and would force his club to accept more reasonable offers. But it remains a big “if.”
In other news…
Chelsea have drawn Wrexham in the FA Cup fifth round, a really fun and interesting draw – but one we have to win.
People are bending over backwards to try and find nice things to say about Liam Delap’s performance on Friday against Hull, including the crew on the London is Blue podcast.
Chelsea’s xG output this season is superb – but they’re miles behind Arsenal in the table because the Gunners are outstanding in an equally important stat. The Blues need to shape up in that category to catch up.
