Browns say safety Ronnie Hickman treated for minor injuries after being assaulted in New York…

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Browns safety Ronnie Hickman is home resting after being treated for minor injuries when he was assaulted, the team said in a statement.

The incident happened Monday morning at a New York City hotel.

The New York Post reports that Hickman was approached by four people at the SIXTY LES hotel after 4:30 a.m. and a dispute broke out.

Hickman was taken to Bellevue Hospital, according to the report.

“Safety Ronnie Hickman was a victim of assault early Monday morning at a New York City hotel,” a Browns spokesperson said in a statement. “Ronnie was treated for minor injuries at an area hospital after the incident, was later released, and is home resting with his family.”

Hickman, 24, just completed his third season with the Browns after signing as an undrafted free agent in 2023.

The South Orange, NJ native spent four seasons at Ohio State, playing in 31 games for the Buckeyes, where he had 157 career tackles and three interceptions.

Hickman started nine games over his first two seasons with the Browns, but displaced starting free safety Juan Thornhill by the end of the 2024 season.

He started all 17 games in 2025, working the back end of a Browns defense that finished fifth in passing yards allowed per play and third in passing yards allowed per game.

He has three career interceptions and finished third on the team last season with 103 tackles.
