Former Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko will be sidelined for 6–7 months after suffering a serious knee injury.
The 29-year-old joined Dutch giants Ajax on a deal until the end of the season. He did so after cutting short his disappointing loan spell at Nottingham Forest.
However, just two minutes into his Ajax home debut, Zinchenko went down with a knee injury.
It now appears he will be out for a significant period.
In an official statement, Ajax have confirmed that Zinchenko will miss the remainder of the season due to the serious injury.
Reports also claim the Ukrainian international is expected to be sidelined for 6–7 months. This comes as a huge blow for the player. His country are set to face Sweden next month in a World Cup playoff semi-final.
