Buffalo Bills now know the asking price for Brian Thomas Jr.

The Buffalo Bills have a massive need for a game-changing wide receiver. Ever since trading Stefon Diggs in 2024, the Bills have failed to put a true No. 1 receiver out wide for Josh Allen to throw the ball to.

Instead, the likes of Keon Coleman, Mack Hollins, Elijah Moore, Gabe Davis, and many more run-of-the-mill receivers have been tasked with being starting outside receivers, which frankly is laughable when you are a contending team trying to get over the hump.

In a recent piece projecting trades that could happen this offseason, Bill Barnwell of ESPN projects that the Bills will trade for Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr, sending away Coleman and a first-round pick to the Jaguars and getting a fifth-round pick along with Thomas in the deal.

"After a massive rookie campaign, Thomas didn't have a single 100-yard game in Year 2 and topped 70 receiving yards three times," Barnwell writes. "There were drops and (perhaps overstated) concerns about Thomas' unwillingness to make catches in tight spaces. Bottom line: The production wasn't there, and things didn't get better as the season went along. Thomas had just two catches for 21 yards in the Jags' playoff loss to Buffalo (though one was for a TD). The Jags also don't have their first-round pick in 2026 after trading it to the Browns as part of the Hunter deal, leaving Gladstone with limited draft capital. Thomas would be their most realistic way to get that missing first-rounder back. Getting the pick back just for the sake of it doesn't mean much, but if the Jags don't see Thomas as a focal point of their offense, the best time to make a move would be now."

It's best for the Bills to move on from Coleman, and it's even more worth it to give up a first-round pick if it means getting a potential superstar in Thomas. As Barnwell pointed out, Thomas was fantastic as a rookie in 2024, catching 87 passes for over 1,200 yard sand earning a Pro Bowl nod. In a year where he is healthy and the unquestioned No. 1 in the offense, he would be a massive net positive for the Bills.
