Jason Kelce was actually a surprisingly good hockey player before his NFL career with Eagles

It's not often that you think of NFL offensive linemen as potential hockey players.

Jason Kelce, though, was a surprisingly good one back in his Cleveland Heights High School days.

He obviously went on to the University of Cincinnati and then the Philadelphia Eagles, where he became one of the best centers in football.

But Kelce had some serious talent on the ice, too. That's part of what brings things full circle now as Kelce attends the Olympics.

He and his wife, Kylie, were at the Team USA women's hockey semifinal game on Monday as the U.S. raced past Sweden.

Kelce and his brother Travis helped raise money so that Laila Edwards' family could attend the Olympics. Edwards is also from Cleveland Heights.

Did Jason Kelce play hockey?

Kelce did play hockey in his high school days in Cleveland Heights, and his stats are circulating now on social media.

As a senior, he had 36 points in 27 games, scoring 21 goals with 15 assists.

The year prior, he had 22 goals in 22 games.

Edwards is the best college hockey player in the country at Wisconsin and is such a talented hockey star that she has shifted to play defense in the Olympics for Team USA.

It's cool to see one Cleveland Heights athlete support another in this way.

It's also a fun excuse to go back in time and learn that Jason Kelce once played some pretty solid ice hockey.
