Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce helped to inspire a Team USA star during the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics.
Wisconsin forward Laila Edwards has been phenomenal for Team USA women’s ice hockey during the Winter Games. She’s scored six total points (two goals and four assists) in six games.
Edwards earned an assist in Monday’s 5-0 win over Sweden in the semifinal round with a special fan at the game cheering her on.
Edwards is from Cleveland Heights, Ohio, where Jason is from. (Travis was born in Westlake, Ohio.)
Per ESPN and the Associated Press, Travis and Jason donated to a GoFundMe to help Edwards’ family attend the Winter Games. Jason was in attendance for Team USA’s win over Sweden.
Via ESPN:
“Among those in attendance was former NFL center Jason Kelce, who was shown on the scoreboard applauding the goal initially credited to Edwards.
“Kelce is from Edwards’ hometown of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and he and his brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, contributed to a GoFundMe drive to help pay for Edwards’ family to attend the Milan Cortina Games.”
Edwards was happy to hear Jason was in attendance for Monday’s contest.
“That was so cool,” Edwards said.
Edwards has been a key part of an offense that is rolling through the tournament. As good as the offense has been (31 goals in six games), the defense might be better (one goal allowed in six games).
Team USA shattered a record for the longest shutout streak during the win over Sweden.
With the win over Sweden, Team USA is set to face Canada in the Women’s Gold Medal Game on Thursday. The high-stakes matchup won’t be anything new for the two rivals.
Canada defeated Team USA 3-2 to win gold for the 2022 Winter Olympics. Team USA defeated Canada 3-2 for gold in the 2018 Winter Games.
