Stunned: Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman
Chelsea Football Newsletter
Reynolds, the Hollywood star, co-owns the Welsh club with fellow actor Rob McElhenney, and he has overseen Wrexham’s rise through the Football League to the Championship in three seasons.
The pair’s high-profile takeover of the Red Dragons has seen them spend big on players in a bid to propel the club up the pyramid as quickly as possible, and they have accompanied their time in charge with a documentary titled ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.
Now, the fairytale takes another twist, with Wrexham set to face Liam Rosenior’s Premier League outfit at the Racecourse Ground in the last 16 of the world’s oldest cup competition.
Reynolds posted his reaction to the draw on social media, with a video showing him sat next to actor and fellow Deadpool and Wolverine star Hugh Jackman, watching the draw unfold on his phone.
The Canadian was slow to understand what had happened at first, with Jackman prodding his friend upon realising that it was Chelsea that had been drawn.

Suddenly, it clicked for Reynolds, who cupped his hands over his mouth to showcase his amazement.
“We’re home?” Reynolds asked, seeking clarification on whether the game would be played in Wales or at Stamford Bridge.
“That’s what you wanted!” Jackman replied, sparking a high five and a roar of excitement from Reynolds, who applauded enthusiastically, before blurting: “F***! Yes! What the f***!”
Wrexham will welcome Chelsea to the Racecourse Ground over the weekend of March 7-8, having beaten Ipswich 1-0 in the fourth round to earn their place in the hat.
