Liverpool January signing close to return after issue “flagged” in medical

After a slight issue was found in his medical, Mor Talla Ndiaye is yet to feature for Liverpool U21s since signing in January, but he is now closing in on a return.

Due to a minor issue was found in his medical, he is yet to play and is yet to train properly with the squad.

He is on the right track, though, under-21s coach Rob Page told The Redmen TV‘s Dan Clubbe.

“Mor is on the grass,” said Page. “We had to shut him down for the first few weeks that he was in, just because of something that was flagged up.

“Nothing too significant to worry about, but just something that we had to manage. Thankfully, now he’s back on the grass and I beat him in head tennis last week!”

This comes three weeks after Page told This Is Anfield that the 18-year-old: “They found something on the medical, not major but just something that we need to manage.

“Within the next couple of weeks, we’ll be seeing him on the training ground which will be exciting.”

It is worth Liverpool taking their time with Ndiaye.

The Reds signed him for £1 million from Senegalese second division side Amitie FC off the back of an impressive four appearances at the U17 World Cup in November.

The Athletic‘s James Pearce reported that Ndiaye was “pursued by a host of suitors from the Premier League and across Europe,” but he chose Liverpool due to “the pathway they presented and a package that includes add-ons to Amitie.”

Coach Page, who managed Wales at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, noted: “He’s definitely an exciting young prospect and really excited.

“Part of the reason I took this job was for players like that, to help develop, to help nurture, to help sort of develop them into the complete player at the end of it, so I’m looking forward to that project.”
