Dominik Szoboszlai‘s agent has responded to growing noise surrounding interest in Real Madrid and has insisted the pair are currently “not looking” for what is next.
Dominik Szoboszlai’s future: A quick look
• Madrid links: Agent Matyas Esterhazy insists they are “not looking elsewhere” despite claims Real Madrid is Szoboszlai’s “dream.”
• Standout season: The 25-year-old has hit double figures for goals this season (10), comfortably Liverpool’s best performer under Arne Slot in 2025/26.
• Contract latest: Szoboszlai “would love to stay,” but he recently admitted extension talks are “not in my hands.”
Szoboszlai has risen to the challenge of Florian Wirtz‘s arrival in the summer, making himself an invaluable asset and Liverpool’s best player of the season so far.
He has reached double figures for goals for the first time in his Liverpool career and, naturally, that has led to speculation about his future amid ongoing contract talks.
Hungary national team boss Marco Rossi recently stirred the pot by claiming “Real Madrid has always been” Szoboszlai’s “dream,” with Vinicius Jr then adding that they talk regularly.
Szoboszlai’s agent, Matyas Esterhazy, has since addressed the links in an interview with NB1 HU, which he says is “normal” but that neither he nor his client are “looking outside or elsewhere.”

“It’s completely normal for the public, when Dominik is performing like this, to always talk about where he will go next and if there’s something higher,” Esterhazy said.
“For us, it’s not a topic. We are in the middle of the season, he has a lot of work ahead of him in the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League.
“He has said many times how important this is for him, so I don’t think it is right to talk about what will happen in the summer at the moment.
“Not to mention, Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world and Dominik is in a position within the team that has a lot of reserve, so we are not looking outside or elsewhere.”

It is a well-timed comment from Szoboszlai’s agent as links and ties to Real Madrid grow, but Liverpool’s No. 8 did recently insist he would “love” to stay at Anfield.
With contract talk continuing ahead of his current deal expiring in 2028, Szoboszlai spoke of his love for the club with reporters while insisting his future is not in his hands.
“I would love to (stay),” Szoboszlai said. “I like the city, I like the club, I like playing with these guys, I love Anfield, I love the fans, let’s see what the future holds.
“Let’s see what happens, hopefully everyone will be happy at the end.
“It’s not in my hands. There is no progression, but if the right offer comes, then let’s see.”
Liverpool are reportedly also in talks with Ryan Gravenberch over an extension, while Ibrahima Konate‘s future remains uncertain ahead of becoming a free agent this summer.
