Friday night saw Hull City exit the FA Cup against Premier League Chelsea, who have since set up a fifth-round tie away at another Championship outfit in Wrexham.
For City, focus now returns to the daily grind of the Championship and the desperation for points in the race for promotion. Coventry City's 3-1 success over Middlesbrough on Monday night leaves the Tigers seven points adrift of second, albeit with a game in hand.
QPR are next up for the Tigers this weekend as Sergej Jakirovic's men continue their run of home games, which will culminate in the visit of play-off rivals Derby County to the MKM Stadium next Tuesday night amid a spell of seven crucial encounters in 21 days.
Having failed to win in their last two league games at home before the Chelsea tie, City must get back to winning ways against an inconsistent Rangers side that were well beaten by struggling Blackburn Rovers at the weekend.
Rangers have done just four times away from home this season, and have one victory in their last six games, but will know City's desperation for victory is significant.
In the latest episode of the 1904 Club podcast, Baz, Burnsy and Fletch discuss the fall-out from Friday night, look ahead to Rangers and more.
