Chelsea Told They Can Sign Breakout Bundesliga Star In Summer for£35 Million

Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs interested in signing breakout defender Daniel Svensson from Borussia Dortmund this summer, with the Bundesliga side open to a sale for a fee in the region of £35 million, according to Fussballdaten.

Svensson, 24, has emerged as a standout performer for Dortmund since moving from Danish side FC Nordsjælland in 2025, initially arriving on loan before his transfer was made permanent. Comfortable primarily as a left‑back but capable of operating in midfield, his tactical flexibility and physical intensity have drawn attention from several top European clubs.

Reports indicate that Dortmund would be prepared to listen to offers of around €35 million (approximately £30 million–£35 million) — a significant markup on the €6.5 million they paid to secure him permanently. That valuation reflects his rapid adaptation to Bundesliga football and growing reputation as a dynamic, high‑work‑rate defender.

CHELSEA are said to see Svensson as a potential long‑term reinforcement on the left flank, one who could bring both defensive solidity and attacking impetus to the Blues side. With multiple competitions on the horizon, the clubare believed to be seeking further depth and versatility in their squad — attributes Svensson could provide if a deal is agreed.

However, Chelsea are not alone in the chase. Liverpool and Inter Milan have also been linked with interest in Svensson’s services, alongside other European heavyweights reportedly monitoring the situation. This increases the likelihood of a competitive bidding environment should Dortmund opt to sell.

Dortmund’s willingness to entertain offers will be a significant factor as the summer transfer window approaches. While the club view Svensson as a valuable piece of their squad.

The financial incentives of a sizeable departure fee — particularly given the premium on modern full‑backs — may prove persuasive. There is no indication yet of a formal offer from any interested party, and Dortmund have not publicly stated their stance on retaining the player.

For his part, Svensson’s performances in the Bundesliga and Champions League have earned him nine caps for the Sweden national team, and his continued rise has only increased his stock in the transfer market.

Whether CHELSEA or another suitor can convert interest into a formal proposal remains uncertain, but the prospect of a move to Stamford Bridge or another top European club is now firmly on the table.

Clubs are expected to assess their proposals and negotiation strategies in the coming months, with the summer window poised to feature Svensson’s situation prominently in transfer discussions.
