FC Barcelona suffered their second consecutive defeat last night as they faced Girona in La Liga, and ended up losing with a 2-1 scoreline, only a few days after having lost to Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey.
Last night’s match was marred by refereeing controversies, and there was special clamor from the Blaugranes about the second goal scored by Girona, [in which there was quite an obvious foul on Jules Kounde in the buildup](https://semprebarca.com/barcelona-enraged-as-montilivi-goal-allowed-contrasting-vallecas-ruling-by-the-same-referee-report/).
As [Mundo Deportivo](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20260216/1002622010/flick-mundo-visto-pasado-segundo-gol.html) has reported, Hansi Flick also brought up this issue as he talked to the press after the game. The German coach believed it was an obvious foul:
**“I don’t want to talk about this; everyone has seen what happened with the second goal. You’ve all seen the incident. Is it a foul or not? Yes? Thank you very much, there’s no need to say more.”**
Meanwhile, he also criticized his own team for their performance:
**“In the second half, we played really badly. We were poor defensively.”**
The Blaugrana coach had another dig at the referees:
**“There are no excuses, but they are at the same level as we played, so maybe it wasn’t a good level.”**
Flick admitted that his team needs a lot of work to regain its form:
**“We’re not in a good mood, we’re in a bad moment. This is a long road to get back to fighting and regaining first place.”**
The German coach also highlighted the role of fatigue:
**“The team is tired, not fresh, but we have to show more hunger to win matches. More control, fewer mistakes.”**
Overall, he wanted his team to do better:
**“There are no excuses. We didn’t do our job, and we have to improve. The result is what it is. We have to play better.”**
The Barcelona coach also highlighted how his team underperformed in transitions:
**“We had many chances in the first half. Girona had theirs in the second half. In transition, defensively especially, we didn’t do well.”**
Flick was also not happy with his team’s performance in the middle of the pitch:
**“Our positioning wasn’t good, especially in midfield. We made too many mistakes. We have to get back on the right path and start playing well again. Right now we’re in a moment where we’re not doing things properly.”**
The German coach announced that he has given the team two days off:
**“I’ve given them two days off. We’re all disappointed. But we’ll fight. It’s time to come back. On Thursday, we’ll return with a different mentality and train better.”**
Flick concluded with the hope that things would improve with the return of some important players:
**“I hope next week, with more players. With Pedri, with Marcus Rashford… we’ll see about Gavi. We’re in a new situation, and we have to get back to our best level.”**
Hopefully, this will be the case, as this has been two defeats in a row for Barcelona, who also lost their leadership of the La Liga table with this defeat. It remains to be seen how Hansi Flick will get his team to react in their next match.
