Bukayo Saka has extended his stay at Arsenal in a major coup for the Premier League club.

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has signed a new five-year contract with the club in a lucrative deal that will make the winger the best-paid player at the Emirates Stadium.

The England international is a product of the Gunners youth academy and has gone on to make 296 appearances for the first team, scoring 77 goals and registering 78 assists. Saka lifted the FA Cup with the side in 2020 and has two Community Shield titles, as well as a Europa League runner-up medal.

The BBC carries reports of the new contract with it claimed that Saka will earn in excess of £300,000 a week in the new deal, talks for which had been ongoing for nearly a year. It’s added that Saka had verbally agreed to commit his future to the club in January.

The player’s previous deal was due to expire in 2027 but had not been subject to any major transfer rumours linking him with a move away from the Emirates Stadium. Saka’s new deal will run until 2031.

Bukayo Saka latest Arsenal player to sign contract extension

The latest coup for Arsenal comes after William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly all signed new long-term contracts in the summer.

Saka has seven goals and seven assists so far this season and will have his focus on lifting more silverware in North London. Arsenal are still vying for the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Champions League.

Speaking about Saka’s influence at Arsenal in October, Arteta said: “When you look at those numbers, 200 games, 100 goal involvements, it’s unbelievable. His age, what he’s doing, the manner that he’s doing it as well, really impressive. That’s the kind of players that we need to achieve what we want.”

Arteta was also asked about a potential new contract for Saka in November and said: "I am very aware that he wants to continue with us. I think it's a very healthy and powerful relationship.

"The journey that he has had at the club, and what he has become, is something we want to maintain. I think that is something that is going to leave a legacy at this club and he needs to fulfil that role."
