Report: Liverpool are 'hugely keen' to sign PL playmaker who Arne Slot has already called 'quality'

The story of the summer might be Morgan Rogers for a couple of reasons, not least Liverpool’s serious interest in bringing him to Anfield.

It could be a big few months for the Aston Villa ace, who looks like starting for England at the World Cup. Rogers has been immense on the international stage.

At the club level, his future remains unclear. Liverpool have been linked to Rogers for quite some time.

However, with a contract at Villa Park until 2031, any sale would be for £100 million or more.

That hasn’t deterred Liverpool, though. They have their sights set on the 23-year-old.

Liverpool sources quash claims of fresh talks but Morgan Rogers interest is real

Rogers has become one of the Premier League’s most dangerous attackers just two years after making the leap from Middlesbrough in the tier below.

Arne Slot previously described him as a ‘quality’ player, when Liverpool were gearing up to face Villa earlier in the season.

He’s one of the hottest names in Europe and there will be no shortage of suitors this summer.

A new TEAMtalk report claims recent rumours of fresh talks with Liverpool are wide of the mark. Sources close to the player say no contact has been made with the many interested parties around Europe.

It does, however, confirm Liverpool are ‘long-term admirers’ of Rogers and ‘remain hugely keen’ on moving for him in the summer.

When the prospect of signing a player of this quality emerges, the top clubs circle.

According to the report, Liverpool will have to fend off serious interest from Chelsea, who seem to be going after all our targets lately.

Also interested are Man United, Tottenham and Arsenal, while PSG have started to hone in on the talented attacking midfielder.

Six clubs, one target. A bidding war seems likely, but of course, there’s no saying what Villa will decide to do.

If he is gettable, Liverpool should jump on the chance whatever the price.
