Leeds United
Leeds United reached a huge milestone this season over the weekend. The Whites progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a victory over Birmingham City.
Daniel Farke once again rotated his side in the cup competition; the likes of Wilfried Gnonto and Ao Tanaka had their chance to play just like in the previous round. Leeds had it difficult this time around, compared to when they beat Derby County with ease in the third round. Lukas Nmecha’s second half goal was cancelled out by Patrick Roberts’ late equalizer. The game went to extra time and later penalties, with Sean Longstaff converting the winner to send the club to the next round. They will now face Farke’s former team Norwich City.

Leeds United send scouts for Manchester City clash
Elsewhere, Manchester City also had a tough time dispatching League Two side Salford. Despite running out 2-0 winners, the game was a struggle, even after the away side gave away the lead with an own goal. There was Leeds United interest in this game per reports. The club sent scouts to the match to monitor Salford duo Matty Young and Alfie Dorrington.
Goalkeeper Matty Young is on loan from Sunderland, and made three saves on the day. Alfie Dorrington, also on loan from Spurs, was unfortunate to score an own goal in the match. It is believed that Leeds see the duo as potential long-term targets. Young is still 19 years old and has made 30 appearances for Salford this season, and Alfie Dorrington is 20 years old.

Whites have a huge chance of making an FA Cup run
Leeds have drawn Norwich City in the fifth round of the FA Cup; the third Championship side they will face in the competition. Looking at how ”favourable” of a draw it is, fans can have a lot of optimism that the club can make the quarterfinals. That would be a first under Daniel Farke, who rarely takes cup competitions as priority. He looks to have learnt from being knocked out of the EFL Cup earlier in the season.
Even though Leeds will be fully focused on the Premier League, Farke can give the fans something to smile about if they do manage to make it all the way to Wembley. But the priority as at now will be to get enough points on the board for survival.
