Arsenal have soared to the heavens. They have secured a huge 4-0 victory over Wigan in the FA cup. Gabriel Jesus represents himself in the same game and appears to be in form. Off the field, however, he has big news in regard to his future in the club. Meanwhile, one of the big stars of manager Mikel Arteta has a new idea.
Gabriel Jesus Back in Form
The 28 years old Brazilian striker has suffered in the past year with a series of consistent injuries in his Premier League career. However, since his return, he has been in excellent form. He scored twice in Inter Milan in the champions league and also scored against Leeds United. Gabriel Jesus scored easily to draw Wigan 4-0 against on 15 February 2026. He is likely to make or play a large role when Arsenal takes on Wolves in the premier league on Wednesday.
Contract Talks Update: Nothing Started
The deal that Gabriel Jesus has is still active until the summer of 2027. He quoted on numerous occasions saying that he wishes to remain at Arsenal. Moreover, he also have a will to conclude a new contract. In January interviews he said to reporters, “my desire is to remain at Arsenal… I want to extend my contract. I want to win trophies here.”
However, the most recent update is obvious. There is not a single discussion related to his future has begun. Football London knows that there is no intention to initiate discussions in the nearest future. This may either imply that Arsenal are considering giving him an exit in 2027 or even this summer in case a good bid is offered. The club does not wish to lose him free in 2028.
Why Arsenal May Say No
The series of injuries caused him to miss a lot of games since the time he joined in 2022 from Manchester City. Andrea Berta, the new sporting director, is a tough guy regarding the decisions he makes concerning the building of the Arsenal squad. Arsenal would like to have players that are able to remain fit throughout the season.
Arteta’s Clever New Plan for Bukayo Saka
Gabriel Jesus, as of now, seems to have an uncertain future, whereas Mikel Arteta is experimenting with Bukayo Saka. Riccardo Calafiori was injured during the warm-up in the Wigan game. Arteta swiftly replaced the team and put Saka in the center of the midfield – rather than the right wing that he is used to playing in.
Saka was a No.8 who was nearer to the goal. He was a perfect match with the new signing of Noni Madueke as a right wing player. The four goals came from Arsenal within the first 16 minutes. Moreover, one of the goals was due to a Saka cross that went in as an own goal.
Why This Plan Makes Sense
The best player of Arsenal is Bukayo Saka. Moreover, he is also frequently double marked by the opponents on the wing. He is free in the middle and finds it easier to create or score. The right side is overly dangerous with Madueke taking defenders out of position. It also provides Arteta with alternatives to the players that suffer from fatigue or injury.
Impact on Arsenal
Arsenal is leading in the Premiership, and they are yet to participate in four matches. They require all people to stay fit and flexible. At the moment, Jesus offers them a seriously powerful striker, but long-term investments are more important. The new role of Saka demonstrates that Arteta is a planner, he is ever-thinking to make the attack fresh.
