Jamie Carragher on Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has likened Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior to Graham Potter. He said that it appears that the Englishman is putting on an act to manage a big club.

The Blues sacked Enzo Maresca and appointed Liam Rosenior last month. The Englishman has had a decent start, winning eight of their 11 games, losing twice, and drawing once. However, Rosenior is also known for his outspoken nature in interviews and press conferences.

On the latest episode of The Overlap Fan Debate, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher spoke about the Chelsea boss, saying:

"I don't know if it's a bit of an act, to sort of play to be the big manager, but if you remember when Graham Potter was there... it never felt like the right fit. It never felt like he had the personality or the strength to manage a club like that. I was wondering if it would be almost the same. You know when you just look at someone and it doesn't look right."

"Whether it's an act or it's his own self belief, it doesn't feel like I'm looking at this guy who is weak - we don't know if he's good enough yet. We'll see over the years," he added.

Chelsea appointed Graham Potter in September 2022, and he was sacked in April 2023, with a record of 12 wins, eight draws, and 11 defeats in 31 games.

Wayne Rooney disagrees with Jamie Carragher regarding Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior

Wayne Rooney worked with Liam Rosenior at Derby County. The latter was made assistant manager after Rooney was appointed their head coach in January 2021. Rosenior then became Derby County's interim manager following Rooney's sacking in June 2022 and eventually left in September that year.

The Manchester United legend was also on the episode of the Fan Debate with Jamie Carragher. He said that people know of Rosenior, which has led to the criticism, as he explained:

"That's the thing with Liam, you know him, but you don't know him. You know his name, you know he's played for Hull and Brighton and teams like that, so he's had a career in England. So now (fans) are looking at him saying, 'Is he putting this on, is he trying to be the big man?'. Actually he is being himself."

Rosenior, meanwhile, has led Chelsea to fifth place in the Premier League standings after 26 games. They will next face Burnley at home on Saturday, February 21.
