Bradley Chubb expressed his feelings following his release

On Jan. 16, the Miami Dolphins announced the releases of three players, including All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Additionally, it wasreported that the team was releasing pass rusher Bradley Chubb. However, the Dolphins did not announce that as an official move, as they may end up having him as a post-June 1 cut.

Despite the technicalities, the fact remains that Bradley Chubb, who led the Dolphins with 8.5 sacks in the 2025 season, will no longer be part of Miami’s roster moving forward. Chubb will end his Dolphins career, having played 41 games for the team, in which he registered 22 sacks.

Following the news that he would be released, Chubb took to social media to make his feelings clear.

Bradley Chubb Thanks Miami Dolphins Fans

Following the news that he would be released from the Dolphins, Bradley Chubb took the time to thank the city and the fans for their continued support. His post on Instagram said, “From the moment I stepped foot here in 2022 this city has welcomed me with open arms! From my teammates to the community, Miami will always hold a special place in my heart! Love, Astro.”

Additionally, former Miami Dolphins player Jaelan Phillips replied to the post, saying, “2:15”, which represents the numbers they wore as teammates.

With previous general manager Chris Grier, the Dolphins had a tendency to make blockbuster trades, and acquiring Bradley Chubb was one of them. With the Dolphins at 5-3 in 2022, the Dolphinstraded a first-round pick in order to land the Pro Bowl pass rusher.Following the trade, the Dolphins signed Chubb to a five-year, $110 million contract, as he was originally set to hit free agency following the 2022 season.

In nine games, including the playoffs, with the Dolphins in 2022, Chubb totaled 3.5 sacks.

Bradley Chubb’s Tenure

His 2023 season was his strongest with the Dolphins, as he led the Dolphins with 11 sacks. Unfortunately, he got hurt prior to the playoffs in a Week 17 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He suffered the injury as the team was already down 49-19 with three minutes left in the fourth quarter, but head coach Mike McDaniel had not removed the starters. McDaniel would later express regret over that decision.

Unfortunately, his injury in Baltimore sidetracked what had been a Pro Bowl-caliber season from Chubb. Aside from his 11 sacks,Chubb earned an 88 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, which ranked him as the 12th-best edge rusher in the NFL that season.

The injury forced him to miss the entire 2024 season. He then took apay cut to remain with the Dolphins in 2025. Despite his team-leading 8.5 sacks, PFF did not believe his performance matched up to his 2023 season as he finished the 2025 season with a 54.5 overall grade, which ranked him as the 100th best edge rusher out of 115 qualified players. With a $31 million cap hit in 2026, the Dolphins preferred to move on. If he is designated as a post-June 1 release, the team would save $20.3 million in cap space.
