The Indianapolis Colts drafted quarterback Anthony Richardson fourth overall in the 2023 NFL Draft from the Florida Gators. There is no doubt that general manager Chris Ballard reached with that selection. Richardson did not pan out well for Indianapolis. Daniel Jones beat him out last season in training camp for the starting job.

Richardson barely saw the field during the 2025 NFL season. He completed 1-of-2 passes for nine yards in limited action. Richardson has only completed 50% of his passes in his NFL career. It is quite possible that the 23-year-old may find a new start in the offseason. Yahoo Sports reported on Twitter,
“It’s starting to seem “inevitable” that Colts QB Anthony Richardson will request a trade from Indianapolis this offseason as they plan to move forward with Daniel Jones as their starting quarterback when he can return from a torn Achilles, per ESPN’s Stephen Holder. Richardson was the No. 4 pick in the 2023 NFL draft but has only played in 17 games over three seasons.”
There is no doubt that this is one of the biggest busts at the quarterback position. Indianapolis has played muscle chairs at quarterback every year since Andrew Luck abruptly retired in 2019. Richardson is a freakish athlete, but is not very good at playing the quarterback position. He can request a trade, but is there anyone that would be willing to take him?

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. (5) tosses a wrist band in the air Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, during practice at the Colts training facility in Indianapolis.
There are a lot of Colts fans who have mixed reactions about Richardson potentially requesting a trade this offseason. This is what Indianapolis fans are saying on Twitter about the latest Richardson news:
Colts are cursed and I’m glad AR will never have to step foot in Indiana again unless he has to play the ponies in Indy.
That’s all it has ever been since the handling of the Peyton Manning situation. One big pony show for the #Colts.

Anthony Richardson is a perfect example of drafting someone because of potential vs drafting someone because of production.
If he didn’t put up good high school numbers and he didn’t put up good college numbers… surely he’ll put up elite NFL numbers, right?

One of the biggest busts in recent memory

Request a trade lmfao. Good luck, buddy. Unfortunately you have little to no trade value now that teams have film to review

Bigger bust Anthony Richardson or Trey Lance?

The Colts will have to decide this offseason who the quarterback will be next season. It most likely is not going to be Richardson. It would be hard to picture anyone trading for him honestly. If Richardson is not with another team or the Colts, then maybe he is better off in another league like the CFL or something.
