'Waiting for an offer': Father of £35m LFC star says contract offer is yet to arrive

Liverpool are gearing up for the summer transfer window with more and more reports emerging about their plans to reinforce when the season ends.

A £60m deal to sign Jeremy Jacquet is already confirmed, while there are strong links between Liverpool and RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande.

Arne Slot was handed £460m worth of new signings in the summer but a multitude of reasons have made it hard for Liverpool to find success this season, with the Reds currently mired outside the top four.

One player that has underperformed this season is Alexis Mac Allister. The Argentine seems immobile and lacking the technical quality that made him a key member of the starting XI last season.

He is no longer a guaranteed starter, and it’s arguable that Curtis Jones should currently be ahead of the 27-year-old in the midfield pecking order.

Father of Alexis Mac Allister talks Liverpool contract extension

This season, the former Brighton midfielder has played 37 games for Liverpool this season for a total of 2,508 minutes. However, he has only recently shown the type of form that would encourage Liverpool to renew his contract.

Alexis Mac Allister is starting to show signs of returning to his best after a start to the season defined by a difficult summer. What happens next for Liverpool and the player depends much on whether he can sustain this until May.https://t.co/Vmh5o02x30

His father, Carlos (57) says Liverpool are yet to make an offer to renew his son’s terms.

Mac Allister’s father told winwin.com: “Alexis is only thinking about Liverpool at the moment. We are waiting for an offer to renew his contract. We will see what the club’s plan is. We’ll wait and see what happens with the renewal. That’s all.”

Mac Allister has been heavily linked with a transfer to Real Madrid, Regarding the media speculation, his father said in early February: “What I can say at the moment is that Alexis is focused on Liverpool and the current season… Alexis is very happy and very comfortable with Liverpool.”

Liverpool are working hard to renew Dominik Szoboszlai’s contract amid his incredible form. This season, the Hungarian has 10 goals and 7 assists and while Real Madrid are interested, the Reds could get a deal done before they can tap him up.
