Warriors officially sign 6-foot-5 ex-Lakers guard to support Stephen Curry

The Golden State Warriors made it past the All-Star break with a positive 29-26 record despite Jimmy Butler's ACL tear and Stephen Curry's recent string of absences.

With 27 games left on the regular season schedule, Golden State's general manager Mike Dunleavy recently made an intriguing signing to bring in additional help for Curry on both sides of the ball while bolstering their guard depth, according to a newly issued statement from the organization.

"The Golden State Warriors have signed Nate Williams to a two-way contract, it was announced today," Warriors PR shared via X on Tuesday afternoon.

"Williams, who spent his senior year of his school at Prolific Prep in Napa, will wear No. 19 for the Warriors."

After an impressive 22-game run with the Brooklyn Nets' G-League affiliate Long Island squad, Golden State decided to snatch the versatile guard on a two-way deal.

In those 22 appearances, the former Los Angeles Lakers training camp signee averaged an impressive 17.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals while boasting a solid 59.2% true shooting percentage.

Williams proved to be an active contributor on both ends during his time with Long Island, eventually catching the eye of Dunleavy and leading to his shot with the dynastic franchise.

With Golden State's Pat Spencer recently picked up on a standard contract, the franchise has to fill one more roster spot. Now, Williams will receive a chance to convince head coach Steve Kerr and the rest of the coaching staff that he can become a valuable bench piece when called upon.

In 47 career games at the NBA level with the Portland Trail Blazers and Houston Rockets from 2022-2025, Williams averaged 3.9 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.6 assists paired with a 51.7% field goal percentage.

While it remains unlikely that Williams will receive much burn with the main roster towards the end of the Warriors' campaign, Kerr's tendency to play up to 12 men on any given night should keep the formerly undrafted guard ready at all times.
