Former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Zach Banner does not appreciate how James Harrison went at former Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin over the course of the 2025 season.
Banner, who played alongside both Ben Roethlisberger and was with the Steelers while Joey Porter Sr. was a coach, came at Harrison after Porter called out Roethlisberger and Harrison for ‘breaking the brotherhood.’
Harrison ended up responding on Monday, stating that he did not appreciate Porter taking their private conversation publicly. The former Defensive Player of the Year also took umbrage to Porter’s comments that Tomlin helped make his career.
On Monday night, Banner chimed in, ripping Harrison’s podcast with Joe Haden and his consistent criticism of Tomlin.
“You and your energy belong in spaces like WWE, celebrity boxing matches. I could even see you being a little clay on Celebrity Deathmatch, maybe South Park. My point is this, shut your mouth about Coach T,” Banner said.
Harrison and Roethlisberger have openly discussed the inner workings of the Steelers and were not afraid to go after Tomlin, who Porter has been an outspoken supporter of for years despite the maelstrom of criticism he received before stepping down in January.
Harrison countered points made by Porter, including his criticism of Roethlisberger.
“He said I should be more loyal to (Mike Tomlin) because my name is Deebo. I had three, four Pro Bowls, Defensive Player of the Year, so when you say these things, it implies he gave me it. First, he didn’t give me the name Deebo, Brett Keisel did that,” Harrison on Deebo and Joe. “He didn’t make me the only undrafted player to ever win Defensive Player of the Year and $50 million. Again, implying it was given to me undeservingly. It wasn’t.”
Banner’s comments come after those Harrison made, and will not sizzle the tension down between some of the former Steelers after Porter’s thoughts.
