Manchester United have been linked this week with a surprise move for Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister. The 27-year-old Argentina World Cup winner, who has two-and-a-half years left on his Liverpool contract, has been identified as a potential summer target as United look to strengthen their midfield.

Mac Allister has struggled for form this season but showed improvement in Liverpool’s 3-0 FA Cup win over Brighton. United are also reportedly interested in Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.

While Manchester United are reportedly interested in Mac Allister, a move from Liverpool seems highly unlikely given the fierce rivalry between the two clubs.

Manchester United are reportedly set to compete with Liverpool for Wolves attacking midfielder Mateus Mane, who is expected to leave Molineux following the club’s likely relegation. Mane has been one of Wolves’ standout performers this season, making his first Premier League start at Anfield in December and featuring in every league game since.

His best performance came in January, scoring and assisting in Wolves’ only league win of the season against West Ham United. With Wolves struggling at the bottom of the table, both Liverpool and Manchester United are said to be interested in signing the youngster this summer.

We exclusively revealed that the representatives of Wolves’ wonderkid Mateus Mane were recently at the AXA. It was not necessarily transfer talks, more just to get an understanding of the situation at the club amid a potential transfer.

The representatives of Mane have been at top sides across the country to get a more holistic understanding of the levels of interest from the various parties, and it by no means suggests that Liverpool are now going to go all in for the 18-year-old.

According to CentreDevils, Manchester United have held initial talks with Mateus Mane’s agent in recent days. The Wolves forward will decide whether to stay or leave at the end of the season. Mane is highly rated at United, with scouts impressed by his breakthrough performances this season.
