Cleveland and Cuyahoga County should also be able to tap into state unclaimed funds for Gateway

Since state unclaimed funds are now being utilized to pay for the new Browns stadium in Brook Park, why can’t that source be used as revenue for Cuyahoga County and the city of Cleveland to help honor the Gateway agreement at Progressive Field and Rocket Arena (“[Can quadrupling the sin tax solve Gateway’s funding issues?](https://www.cleveland.com/news/2026/02/should-cuyahoga-county-quadruple-taxes-on-cigarettes-alcohol-to-fund-future-stadium-repairs.html)” Feb. 14)?

A precedent has been set, and since the county and city both struggle to meet the financial terms established in the Gateway agreement, the state’s unclaimed funds money should be made available.
