Longtime Lakers executive to leave team

Los Angeles Lakers president of business operations Tim Harris is leaving after 35 years.

Los Angeles Lakers president of business operations Tim Harris informed staff on Tuesday that this 2025-26 season will be his last with the organization, according to Dan Woike of The Athletic.

Harris, who played a key role in securing the franchise's lucrative local television rights deal with Spectrum SportsNet, has spent more than 35 years with the Lakers and The Forum.

The changes come amid a broader restructuring within the organization. Joey and Jesse Buss were dismissed from their executive roles earlier this season, along with much of the scouting staff.

These moves follow the landmark $10 billion sale that was officially approved in late October, when the Buss family sold a majority stake in the team to billionaire Mark Walter, owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Lakers are now in the process of reshaping both their scouting department and front office as the franchise enters a new era.
