ESPN drops monster update on Buccaneers WR Mike Evans

The future of Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans has been up in the air since the season ended.

While for most, Evans would be fine to walk off into the sunset and retire, we got the sense that maybe there was more left in the tank for the franchise great.

Reportedly waiting until after the Super Bowl to make a decision on his future, it appears Evans has come to a decision, and it is one that is great, but there is also a hint of something happening that fans might not like.

ESPN's Jenna Laine posted on X:

"Per his agent Deryk Gilmore, Mike Evans will be playing a 13th season. He will be playing in 2026. To be determined where. He’ll weigh his options."

Evans is playing in 2026, but where?

This is the part that will worry fans.

Evans is coming back for a 13th season, but going by Laine's tweet, it doesn't appear that he's sold on returning to Tampa. Weighing his options doesn't sound good for Tampa.

Many are of the thought that if Evans were to return, it would only be for the Buccaneers (I thought that, too), but it appears Evans is ready to potentially test the market and maybe sign for a team contending for a Super Bowl, say the Buffalo Bills?

Either way, fans got what they wanted: Evans returning. But he might not be a Buccaneer in 2026.
