Marcus Rashford has been a success in La Liga on loan from Manchester United, yet Barcelona are still trying to get the Englishman cheaper.
It has been well over a year since Marcus Rashford last represented Manchester United, and since then, a lot has changed, both for the player and at Old Trafford.
Rashford spent the second-half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, before he then moved to Barcelona in the summer on a loan.
Barcelona have a £26m option to buy Rashford, but despite his quality, it hasn’t been a guarantee that they will trigger this clause.
Now, they’ve even reportedly tried to knock money off, which United wants no part of.

Manchester United refuse Barcelona’s attempts to lower Marcus Rashford transfer fee
Rashford has 10 goals and 13 assists in 34 games for Barcelona, yet given the Catalan side’s financial difficulties, they aren’t yet keen on paying the bargain £26m.

There has long been talk around Barcelona not affording Rashford; however, despite the rumours, Sky Sports journalist Danyal Khan has confirmed there won’t be any discount.

The journalist tweeted that, despite the rumours to the contrary, United are not re-negotiating with Barcelona over the fee.
United haven’t been in talks over this sort of agreement, nor will they have any interest in doing so anytime in the future.
The situation remains unchanged for United; the Spanish side must pay.
Rashford has always been very unlikely to return to United, but if Barcelona doesn’t pay up, then he might very well be back at Carrington this summer.

Manchester United must hold firm over Rashford stance
While United are in a strong position, there are pros and cons to this situation with Rashford.
First, United are spot on to demand the full fee for Rashford because he is a player worth way more than £26m, and another club would surely pay this if the Spanish side doesn’t.
In addition, Michael Carrick reportedly wants Rashford back, and so if he is appointed permanent head coach and the winger returns, it wouldn’t be the same toxic relationship he left.
However, on the downside to Barcelona not paying, Rashford’s massive wage bill would be a blow if he came back and sought an exit without the interest we expect.
But even in this case, £26m for Rashford is a bargain and United shouldn’t budge on what is already a massive discount.
