After a brief departure at the trade deadline, Mike Conley is officially back with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Minnesota initially traded Conley to Chicago on Feb. 3 as part of a three-team trade that also involved Detroit. The Timberwolves didn’t receive any players in the trade; rather, it was a play to dump salary and get the team below the first apron.

On Feb. 4, Chicago shipped Conley off to Charlotte, who bought out his contract and dropped him to waivers the next day.
If Conley hadn’t been traded a second time, the Wolves wouldn’t have been able to sign him again. But now the 19th-year guard will return to Minnesota for the remainder of the season on a veteran minimum deal.
Conley first joined the Wolves three seasons ago and was a core member of the teams that made back-to-back Western Conference Finals runs in 2024 and 2025.
This season, for the first time in his career, Conley has taken a back seat as a depth piece, starting in nine of his 44 appearances and averaging 4.4 points and 2.9 assists on 18.5 minutes per game.
