NFL wide receiver and Los Angeles Rams Super Bowl champion Robert Woods announced his retirement after signing a one-day contract with the team.
Woods announced on his personal Instagram.
"After 27 unforgettable years of pouring my heart into this game, and the 13 incredible years in the NFL - It's time for me to step away from playing the sport that has given me everything. Football has never just been a game to me - it's been my passion, my purpose, and my life long dream. I cherished every moment my cleats touched the grass. Every time I stepped onto the field, I was determined to leave a piece of myself in every snap.
"I always wanted my presence to be felt - by my teammates, but my opponents, by every one watching. I competed with everything I had, willing to do whatever it took to finish the job and bring home the win. Lifting the Lombardi Trophy and becoming a Super Bowl champion was held onto as a child, and having the blessing to reach to and win one in 2022 is something I will treasure forever.
"None of this would be possible without the incredible teammates who battle to be beside me, the coaches who believed in me, and the training and strength steps who pushed me to be my very best. Thank you for trusting me, supporting me, and helping turn my dreams into reality.
"To the Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles, Rams, Tennessee, Titans, Houston, Texans, and Pittsburgh Steelers - thank you for giving me the opportunity to live out my dream at the highest level.
"To the best fans in the world - thank you for your own support, your energy, and your belief in me through my journey.
"Most importantly, to my wife, my children and my entire family thank you for being my foundation. There are no words that can truly express my gratitude. Everything I accomplished on the field was made possible because of the support, prayers and believe he poured into me every single day. This game gave me memories, brotherhood, and a legacy I am forever proud of. I walk away deeply grateful and fulfilled.
“With love and gratitude,
“Robert Woods.”
In 12 NFL seasons, Woods tallied 683 receptions for 8,233 receiving yards with an average of 12.1 yards per reception. The former USC Trojan also recorded 38 touchdowns and had a receiving success rate of 52.2 percent.
The Bills drafted Woods in the 2013 NFL Draft with the 41st overall pick. He spent the majority of his career with the Rams. After winning the Super Bowl with L.A. in 2022, he was traded to the Titans for a 2023 sixth round pick.
Woods bounced from the Titans to the Texans and signed a one-year contract with the Steelers last April. However, Pittsburgh released Woods in August, and he ultimately requested and was granted his release from the practice squad in early September. He did not play in the 2025 season.
