At 37 years old, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry is reaching the later stages of his NBA career. The four-time champion is the seventh-oldest active player in the league.
Curry was drafted by the Warriors with the No. 7 pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. He rose to prominence during the 2010s and remains a cornerstone of Golden State in 2026.
With the 40-year-old Chris Paul retiring from professional basketball earlier this month, it may draw questions about how many more seasons Curry intends to play.
In an interview with People, Curry revealed that he does not intend to retire in the foreseeable future. The 17-year NBA veteran is focused on competing in the present.
"It'll declare itself, whenever the time comes to call it quits, which I don't think is anytime soon… Thinking about the end robs you of the now. I'm enjoying the journey of competing and all the work that goes into it. Hopefully that carries me a long way."
The Season Ahead
This season, Curry is averaging 27.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists over 39 games. The Warriors guard has missed a week of action due to a knee injury, though he is expected to return to the court soon after All-Star Weekend.
With a 29-26 record, the Warriors hold the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings. The franchise is in a middle-of-the-road position to continue rising up the rankings or dip closer to the draft lottery.
Golden State made a significant roster change prior to February's trade deadline, sending Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to the Atlanta Hawks for Kristaps Porzingis. Porzingis has yet to make his debut as a member of the Warriors.
Other notable players in Golden State's core include Jimmy Butler, Al Horford, and Draymond Green. The 36-year-old Butler suffered a season-ending ACL injury last month, while the 35-year-old Green and 39-year-old Horford have had decent production in the team's frontcourt.
With Curry at starting point guard, the Warriors have the firepower to make a playoff appearance. Still, the front office may need to navigate the challenges of an aging roster.
