Ex-Steelers are having an all-out war of words, but Big Ben’s silence just ended the drama

Pittsburgh Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger did not respond to Joey Porter Sr.’s comments last week. Porter said the Hall of Honor recipient and two-time Super Bowl Champion was a bad teammate.

Porter noted on Not Just Football, Cam Heyward’s podcast, that Roethlisberger ‘broke the brotherhood’ of the Steelers along with outside linebacker James Harrison.

“He should never grab a microphone and really talk Steeler business,” Porter said. “If we’re talking Steelers business, his ass is foul of all foul. The (expletive) that he did is foul of all foul. He’s not a good teammate. Won a Super Bowl with him, but the person? He’s just not a good teammate. He knows that. Anybody in the Steeler building knows that. But we protected him because I’ve only won one Super Bowl, and that was my quarterback. So do I love my quarterback? Yeah. But is he a good person? No.”

In his latest episode of Footbahlin, Roethlisberger never mentioned Porter or what happened. It was in stark contrast to Harrison, who responded directly to Porter.

Harrison said that Porter himself broke the brotherhood, not Roethlisberger and himself.

“Something else he said, Ben and I broke the brotherhood? First, Mike (Tomlin) ain’t my brother. We broke the brotherhood? You broke the brotherhood more than we did,” Harrison said.

Other players have become involved in the spat, with Maurkice Pouncey, Zach Banner, David DeCastro, and others either ripping Porter or endorsing what he said. Yet, with no response from Roethlisberger, that effectively shuts down what had become high drama among former Steelers players.
