“Announced Today” Seahawks’ Super Bowl Champion Receives Massive Punishment From League

The NFL has officially announced disciplinary fines stemming from Super Bowl LX (February 8, 2026), with Seattle Seahawks cornerback Josh Jobe being the only player cited for on-field infractions during the fourth quarter of the Seahawks’ 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots.

NFL Announces Fines for Super Bowl 60: Seahawks CB Josh Jobe Hit with Dual Penalties Totaling $18,444 for Late Hit and Retaliation on Stefon Diggs

According to the league’s weekly fine report (released February 17, 2026), Jobe was fined twice for actions on a single play with 13:24 remaining in the game:

$9,222 for unnecessary roughness — a late hit out of bounds on Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

An additional $9,222 for striking/kicking/tripping/kneeing — stemming from retaliation after Diggs came back at him following the initial contact.

The total fine amount for Jobe is $18,444.

Play Breakdown and Context

The incident occurred during a pass play where Diggs caught a short route near the sideline. Jobe delivered contact after the ball was caught and the play was ruled complete, drawing the initial unnecessary roughness flag for the late hit out of bounds. Diggs responded by shoving Jobe, leading to a brief scuffle. Jobe then retaliated with additional contact (described in the fine as striking/kicking/tripping/kneeing), prompting the second penalty and fine.

No other players from either team were fined for actions in the Super Bowl, per the NFL’s announcement. This includes no discipline for Diggs’ initial shove or any other post-play incidents.

Jobe’s Role in the Seahawks’ Super Bowl Run

Jobe, acquired by Seattle in 2024, played a big role in the secondary during their championship season. He appeared in 16 regular-season games (starting 15), contributing in nickel packages and special teams. The fines come as a minor footnote to an otherwise successful campaign for the Seahawks, who ranked No. 1 in scoring defense en route to the title.

Neither the Seahawks nor Jobe has commented publicly on the fines. The amounts align with standard NFL discipline for such infractions in high-profile games (no escalation for Super Bowl context).

Super Bowl fines are relatively rare and typically modest compared to regular-season penalties, as the league tends to let most physical play stand unless egregious. This appears to be the only player discipline emerging from the game.
