The Phoenix Suns are one of the most impressive teams of the 2025-26 season. They have been the surprise package this season, going from a Kevin Durant- and Devin Booker-led team that didn't reach the postseason to one that is comfortably in the race.
Over the years, Booker has continued to develop into one of the most impressive shooting guards in the league. He is an intelligent player who is not solely focused on scoring, which has led some people to criticize him for being passive.
Booker hits out at the narrative of him being a passive player
Most people have become familiar with Booker over the past decade. He has been one of the best shooting guards because he has a tremendous ability to get his shots off. At the same time, he is a natural three-level scorer, which has made him a star to follow.
Booker has an NBA Finals appearance under his belt, as he was the best player on the 2021 Suns team. They were two wins away from winning the championship, but it was not enough, as they lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in the Finals.

Over the years, Booker has continued to showcase that he is not just a scorer. He is also a great playmaker, as evidenced by his career average of 5.3 assists per game. Aside from that, he can spearhead the offense as a floor general, which is why the Suns are comfortable with building the roster around him.
This season, Booker is averaging 25.2 points and 6.3 assists per game. Those are decent numbers, but some have implied that he is more passive this season, and Booker vehemently disagrees.
"People have been saying that about me for years, that I’m passing the ball now. Eventually, I think they’ll catch on, man. I just have a knack for playing the right way. I create 2 on the ball, I try to make the right play. Whether it’s a real game, the Olympics, or the All-Star game, that’s just what I naturally do," Booker said about the narrative around his game during All-Star Weekend.
As the season progresses, the Suns will continue to rely on Booker to be their best player. That can come in the form of him being the primary option, but he can also serve as a solid playmaker. With Jalen Green finally healthy, he has a co-star to bounce off of.
Booker is ready to lead the Suns to the promised land again, and he will do it by being the best version of himself.
